What to choose for thermal protection: superisol or minerit?

-

A fire in the house is not only a way to heat the room and cook food, but also an additional source of fire hazard. Minerite and superizol are special materials that are used in the construction of stoves and fireplaces. Both serve to ensure fire safety of heating structures. It’s time to understand the features and differences of each type of material.

Features and characteristics of superisol

Superizol for baths is a non-flammable thermal insulation material based on calcium silicate. It has the following advantages:

  • Withstands both extremely low and high temperatures from -200 to 1,100 degrees;
  • It has a porous structure, which helps to provide a high level of thermal insulation;
  • It is made not only from durable but also from environmentally friendly material, and therefore it can be used in residential premises;
  • Weighs less than drywall, which means it does not overload the stove box;
  • It is multifunctional, as it can be used in furnace systems and for thermal insulation of various devices.

Superisol has virtually no disadvantages, except for its vulnerability to high humidity, and therefore it is not recommended for use in baths and saunas.

Features and characteristics of mineralite

Minerite is a thermal insulation material based on cement (70%), minerals (20%) and cellulose (10%). Its features and characteristics are largely identical to Superizol.

Characteristics of minerite

  • High thermal insulation properties: operating temperature range from -80 to +1100 degrees;
  • Hardness and density due to the cement base;
  • Good sound insulation;
  • Resistance to various types of influences: high humidity, temperature changes, rotting;
  • Possibility of painting.

Like superisol, it has only one drawback: higher thermal conductivity.

Both materials are characterized by environmental friendliness, excellent resistance to high temperatures and durability. Therefore, when choosing thermal insulation, first of all pay attention to the characteristics of superisol and mineralite. For example, for a stove in a bathhouse or sauna it is better to buy superizol, and for a fireplace in a private house you can buy mineralite.
